Galloway's: Landmark for Specialty Foods

On Saturday, Oct 23, from 5-6pm, our Naturopath Dr. Neetu Dhiman will discuss healthy choices to weight loss at Galloway's new location in Burnaby.

Galloway’s Specialty Foods’ owner Annie Kara is pleased to celebrate the opening of the new Burnaby location with a week of tastings. A Taste of Galloway’s begins Saturday, October 23 and runs through Saturday, October 30. Each day several vendors and suppliers, including Lesley Stowe, Nature’s Path, and Pure Sauce, will share their favourites with Galloway’s customers. On Saturday, Oct 30, at noon, 1pm, and 2pm, Chef Ian Lai will demonstrate what to do with lentils, beans, and grains.

Galloway’s Specialty Foods began in the 1940s. It all started on Robson Street with bins of dried fruit, nuts, spices, and beans. Today, Galloway’s carries over 9000 items and specializes in the hard-to-find items such as black cocoa, double 00 flour, black-eye peas, and teff flour. Over 300 spices; superfoods such as quinoa, black Thai rice (it’s purple, not black and recent studies show that it contains more anti-oxidants than blueberries) and chia seeds; carnaroli – the best rice for risotto; rennet and citric acid for cheese-making; baking ingredients, international groceries, gluten-free items, and organic.

Drop by for draws, samples, and to enjoy the Galloway’s experience – education, efficiency, and taste.
