Acupuncture
Acupuncture can help shift our bodies out of this overdrive mode into a restorative and healing state. Our modern day lifestyle of high stress, demanding schedules and lack of quality rest keeps us stuck in constant “Fight or Flight” mode. This overdrive mode releases compounds, like cortisol and adrenaline, preventing our bodies from repairing.
“There is incredible wisdom in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I personally follow its guiding principles to help energize, clean and repair my body everyday. I used to be overweight and chronically tired all the time, so I really understand what my patients are going through. It wasn’t until I began studying and understanding the interconnectedness of the body and treating the body as a whole system, rather than isolated parts, that I began addressing the root cause of my own issues. Deep rest and healing can only happen when our bodies are in balance. Acupuncture has helped me rebalance my own physical, mental and emotional health.” Dr. Lee
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, practiced and perfected over centuries. Fine needles are placed in strategic points throughout the body to balance the flow of energy or life force. This leads to improved mood, increased vitality and pain relief. Patient safety is a priority, therefore beginning any treatments a thorough medical history is taken. Patient outcomes are always better when a careful assessment is done in the beginning.
During an Acupuncture treatment, fine needles are inserted into specific locations on the body. Some people may feel a light pin prick on the skin with each needle insertion, while others barely feel anything. At Brio Health we use high-quality needles which significantly minimize pain and discomfort.
The number of treatments will depend on the conditions presented. Generally, Dr. Lee encourages patients to start with a series of 3 to 6 treatments.
Potential side effects of Acupuncture can include temporary pain, bleeding or bruising at the site of needle insertion. Most patients experience a deep sense of relaxation, which may lead to some lightheadedness or short term fatigue after the treatment.
